Product description

New in the #1 "New York Times" bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series-the basis for HBO(r)'s "True Blood"! With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover Eric Northman and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot-which is much more complicated than she knows...

The latest book in Ms Stackhouse's Trueblood series left me a little flat. I found this book not as exciting as the previous titles. There is a lot more talk of the faeries in Sookie's family so maybe this is why I found the book a bit slower, there doesn't seem to be enough of the vampire's and werewolves. I'm sure she'll be writing another as the series is making her so much money so I hope the next book returns to her wonderful prose of earlier books.

Review quote

"Doesn't disappoint fans of the southern mind-reading belle who gets mixed up in the world of vampires and magical creatures...It's the perfect poolside read."--"The Kansas City Star" "This was a fast paced and entertaining read that had me glued to my seat and turning those pages to see just who would show up and what was going to happen next."--"Fresh Fiction"
