Critical Path is R. Buckminster Fuller's masterwork - the summing up of a lifetime's thought and concern - as urgent and relevant as it was upon its first publication over 20 years ago. Critical Path details how humanity found itself in its current situation - at the limits of the planet's natural resources and facing political, economic, environmental, and ethical crises. Fuller's analysis has been proven correct in many areas since then and his options for the survival of mankind are as compelling as ever. Critical Path is an essential text for any student of humanity.

I first read Critical Path some twenty years ago after being introduced to Buckminster Fuller by a much more contemporary student Robery Kiyosaki who at the time was running an educational company.
Like Robert I too quickly saw that I had previously been very focused on making money, and not necessarily making sense (on behalf of all humanity) and was therefore a contributor, conspirator perhaps in the demise of human beings. I was at the time a construction project engineer and risk manager, involved in the water and waste-water industries, and the high hazard petro-chemical industry.
Fuller introduces the term "lag" as associated with all forms of technology, and how the lag time in some industries can be almost 100 years. Shorter lag times can mean much less environmental damage for instance. In my case I was instrumental in constructing large outfall sewers, designed to outfall effluent into the ocean, a common design. Just today I listened to an engineer on the morning news describing how the 'new' design was to now retreat the sewerage effluent to drinking water quality, just as it's done on a space station. Fuller used the exact same analogy nearly one hundred years ago ... and said something like " no one even stopped to design the plumbing (of our 20th century housing).
Critical Path is a masterpiece and a book I keep on my desk at all times, along with Fuller's "Grunch of Giants - Gross Universal Cash Heist" where he describes in details todays financial catastrophe, and he wrote it in 1983.
Critical Path and all of Fullers 25 or so books take some getting used to as he writes a little differently, but the journey is absolutely worth it if you are interested in the facts, understanding what has and is happening on our spaceship planet Earth.
""Critical Path" is a state-of-the-art summary of human evolution." --Marilyn Ferguson, author of "The Aquarian Conspiracy "
