    A new bible for artists!!5

Karen Wylie I'm always a little skeptical about books touting "everything you need to know", so it was with mild amusement that I ordered Art/Work - after all, it wasn't a huge investment, and perhaps there might be something of use.

People, this is an incredible find and I am compelled to share my review of it with you as a "must have" tool. I've not got a business background, and as an artist my head is usually off in la-la land - i'd rather be painting than trying to untangle the red tape of the real world.

Bhandari & Melber have constructed a comprehensive and succinct guide that is overflowing with sage advice, practical action and things to be aware of, as you navigate a career in the art world. I'm preparing for my first solo show in just 8 weeks time, and this has arrived in the nick of time. I now have a crystal clear vision of what I aim to achieve, and I have enriched my knowledge with which to carry this vision out.

The most provocative and action-inducing elements for me have been so far: defining the different roles or hats I wear as an "emerging" artist, and exactly what is needed to execute those roles efficiently; and a more professional approach to cataloguing and keeping records of my work in a simple excel file format with all the key information needed for the life of my art work.

This book is, to me, absolutely essential for any artist or anyone wishing to be involved in the art world, as it draws on the experiences of other artists, curators, critics, gallery workers etc and presents their guidance and wisdom in a positive and proactive way - one that is simple to follow and to emulate. I highly recommend this as indispensable knowledge.

    Cheers by Karen Wylie
