Product description

This is a book of bright and funky designs that shows how stitching has become seriously stylish. The unique projects bridge the gap between craft & interior design and progress in difficulty throughout. These UK authors have produced a stunning book that will appeal to both beginning and experienced stitchers. This is a book that brings embroidery bang up to date using traditional techniques alongside bold colours, graphics and striking contemporary ideas. The unique projects bridge the gap between craft and interior design, embracing the revival of the 'homemade'. Four main techniques (canvas work, applique, silk shading and goldwork) are covered, with three projects progressing in difficulty for each. All the tools, materials and stitching techniques needed are carefully explained, along with general instructions for making up cushions, bags and framing canvases. Complete beginners will be able to get started straight away, whilst more experienced stitchers will be inspired and challenged.

I have just received this book, and I'm absolutely delighted with it.

I have done some of Emily Peacock's cross stitch before (I'm ¾ of the way through the Kiss cushion), as I loved the modern, and bright designs, so I was really excited for the book to be released, and I wasn't disappointed.
The book has lots projects for you to try, with step by step instructions, patterns, materials (including the amount of wool, etc needed), equipment needed for each project. The designs for each project are simply amazing, very modern, and the photography throughout the book is really great guide for you to work through for each project. Personally I can't wait to start the "Lean on Me" and "Love is in the Air", as they both looking beautiful.

It also has an explanation of each type of stitch, which is useful for a beginner like me, as well instructions on finishing your design (i.e. framing, making a cushion, wall hanging, etc).

Would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in needlework, as its got fantastic projects throughout and it great value for money as the projects involved combined with keep you occupied for a long time to come.

Thanks very much Jessica Aldred & Emily Peacock
