DescriptionThe balance that you feel is determined by the degree of alignment of your self image with who you really are. Reflecting the author’s quest, this book explains the main elements of balance and how to apply them to your life. The concepts are presented in an accessible, simple and visual way to make them understandable and digestible to a wide audience. Understanding and achieving balance does not have to be a difficult path. Everything you need to know is in the book. All that is required is an open mind and a willingness to change old habits. Everyone’s journey in life is different, but the principles of balance like the laws of physics, are the same for all of us. They can be learnt the hard way or the easy way.

  • An authour that has been there, seen it & done it.5

Andy An excellent book written by someone who has been there, seen it & done it. This author obviously wants to share his experiences to help other people achieve greater balance in their lives. I found it a very simple book to read, but so meaningful for us all especially in today's society where we're all running around at 150mph trying to find the essential equilibrium for work, family, children, friends, hobbies etc. Personally, i thought my life was fairly balanced but after reading this book, i have found many areas of my own life that i can work on to achieve more stability, contentment & happiness. This book can help everybody, irrelevant of religion, culture, nationality, age or marital status. I've ordered several other copies to give to friends & family (& enemies!!). Great job Mr Willis. I look forward to your next book. by Andy

  • An Essential Book for any Library5

Martin Beckley I would not typically read a book like this, however, I am so pleased that I did! There will come a time in your life when reading this book, will make so much sense to you. All the chapters add value to where you are now and where you would like to be in the future. I love the simplicity of the book, the clear explanations and the writing style. I have recommended this book to so many friends and especially my wife as I believe this will only enhance our life. Well Done Allan, very well researched and written by Martin Beckley

Simple, visual and enjoyable to read5

Sarah Davison Achieving balance is concise and to the point. It contains many ideas and concepts relating to balance and these are presented in an accessible way.
By the time I had finished the book I felt different to when I had started it, but I couldn't quite put my finger on why! (But it was a positive feeling)
There is a recommended reading list at the end of the book which is useful and a piece about the author which is probably worth reading before you start the book.
I have read a few self help and personal development books over the years but Achieving Balance sits head and shoulders above them, in my opinion, because it feels like the author is talking to you personally and the content is of a very high quality. Gaining the knowledge about balance is one thing, applying it is another, but the book gives you many pointers on how to practically apply balance to your life. I think it is the sort of book that you can refer to over the years to make sure you are still on track. To summarise, this book will save you many years of doing the wrong things, it is very well written and the illustrations make it a pleasure to read. I would definitely buy a copy and read it! I found it to be tremendously empowering. by Sarah Davison

  • Unpretentious and absolutely worthwhile5

Crispin This excellent book is elegantly written and well illustrated. There is so much food for thought here. So often books that offer help or self-help become so bound up in their own methods and perspectives that they are of little use to real people facing the real challenges of life. However there is nothing cultish in "Achieving Balance" nor any appeal to embrace a new manifesto, just an opportunity to think more clearly about life and its priorities. It's well organised too - it's so easy to dip in and find your thought for the day. Add this book to your library - it's clear, unpretentious and absolutely worthwhile. by Crispin

  • Achieving Balance5

Michael Sophoclides I was given this book after a friend read it & was not really looking to read it but a long train & plane journey changed that & I was very impressed in the simple way in which the author has gone about showing how your out look on life can be, if you want, be changed for the better. I was not looking to improve my life, but the contents have changed my way of looking at things in life as they occur, I would recommend everyone having a read - NOW!! by Michael Sophoclides

Ian West Like all the very best novels this book has a fascinating twist in the tail - But this isn't a novel, it's a personal self help work of non-fiction.

In the last few pages the author shares his most personal mental healthcare issues and his challenge with "Achieving Balance".

I was recently introduced and had the pleasure of spending sometime with the author. Allan Willis is a fascinating, engaging and very down to earth bloke, but how does he have such insight in "achieving balance"?

I have read the book from cover to cover - twice. First time in wide mouthed admiration for the simple insight contained within and in complete disbelief of all the things I have been getting so badly wrong during my adult life. During the second reading I was more focused on what I get so badly wrong and what I need to do to achieve balance. I can pinpoint the times in my life when everything was in balance and I can also recognise either end of the balance spectrum and more importantly what causes me to go there!

This book leaves one very seriously unanswered question "Why wasn't I given a copy of this book 30 years ago before I embarked on my unbalanced life?" Because it wasn't available is the simple answer! But it is now so you have no excuses!

I recommend this book to everyone I meet - It will change your life! As a mentor of both undergraduate and postgraduate students I firmly believe that every degree should include a copy of this book to ensure the next generations achieve levels of balance and undoubtedly success that their elders and predecessors never realised was available!

A fabulously insightful book that should be permanently packed in your summer holiday suitcase, what better time to annually CHECK YOUR BALANCE. by Ian West

  • A Positive Influence5

GreenGoddess I have read a few books around this subject and what sets this one apart is that it is really useful. It has condensed the content to a manageable amount that everyone can understand, relate to their circumstances and move on in a positive direction. A self help book's key objective should be to facilitate progress, in this case personal progress into 'achieving balance' which for me is about a little guidance here and there to get perspective, contentedness and a greater quality of life. Useful for people who are bogged down with issues or have a little stress in their lives but also useful for people who are content. I have recommended this book already a few times and will continue to do so. Also too useful to give away as ideal to refer to from time to time. by GreenGoddess

  • Truly inspirational book - a serious handbook for life5

Rob The quality of a book in my mind can be judged by how much it moves you and keeps at the fore of your mind for days to come. Just within the three pages I had a grasp of how life changing this book could be, after ten pages I realised it truly had the capability of changing my life, after finishing the book it had changed my life. It changed my life so much for the better that there is hardly a day which goes by without me mentioning it to someone. I very often quote phrases from the book; one of the key messages from the book now enables me to manage expectations better, I can now turn up to an event and never be disappointed; I can't give all away here, you'll just have to get the book to learn some fascinating approaches to life. As it says, "A simple book that will change your life." by Rob
