Steampunk is a burgeoning counter-cultural movement; a genre, community, and artform. The Steampunk movement seeks to recapture the spirit of invention, adventure, and craftsmanship reminiscent of earlynineteenth century industrialization, in part, to restore a sense of wonder to a technology-jaded world. Packed with 1,000 color photographs, 1,000 Steampunk Creations features a showcase of stunning jewelry, fashion, accessories, headgear, artwork, home decorations, and curious contraptions.

Steampunky

I waited and waited for this book, from the time it was listed under new publications. I've got several of this 1000 series, and have loved them all. This book has the same sound design principle and looks as inviting as the others. I have to say that it's an interesting collection and probably worth buying, however I was a bit disappointed that I felt slightly cheated - the content is a bit repetitive, with up to 6 very similar works by one artist featured on the same page, and so many repetitions of similar works by the same artists- I felt that there must have been so many artists and crafters out there who didn't get a look in because some artists have submitted their entire catalogue! The works themselves, repetition aside, are interesting and clever and thought provoking, I just would have liked to see a wider selection, more variety. Some more rigorous editing and a wider selection of contributors would have brought the book up to the standard of the brilliant '1000 Ideas for Creative Re-use' - I would like another 1000 of those.show more
